The greatest gift of life on the mountain is time.

The greatest gift of life on the mountain is time. Time to think or not think, read or not read, scribble or not scribble — to sleep and cook and walk in the woods, to sit and stare at the shapes of the hills. When we moved to Black Mountain from South Florida one of our goals was to slow down. Slow down … how do you do that? Even here with the great outdoors surrounding you there are still bill to be paid, school projects to complete, a job to fulfill (although working from home takes on a whole new height here!) and so much more. So nothing every seems to really slow down, but the licence plate on the front of my car kinda says it all “Altitude Affects Attitude”.

So as I wait “patiently” for Progress Energy to come out and connect our electrical lines to the house so we can turn on the lights, we can take the time to enjoy the great outdoors. Of course, Memorial Day weekend was a great time to enjoy a bonfire with the family and wine in a solo cup. But the fun never ends if you can just find the time to stop and “smell the roses” as they say. Enjoying the outdoors at High Rock Rentals is just as important living comfortably inside our log home. So, of course, I’ve got a pile of “wish list” items for my new outdoor spaces. I’ve collected a few on Pinterest and below I’ve shared a few visuals.

I  absolutely love the stone path to the circle of fire – I can totally see this at the bottom of our grand front deck steps to the center of the yard over looking the view of Grandfather Mountain. Our Blue Ridge Log Cabin is complete, but the dreaming will go on for years….
